Privacy
SquareBooks keeps a simple log of visits to this site, so we can see which organisations are interested while the product is in development. This page says what the log holds, how long we keep it and how to ask about it.
What we record
Each time a page on squarebooks.ai is opened, we record:
- the date and time, and the page
- the website that linked to it, and the link tag if the link carried one (for example
?r=linkedin) - your IP address
- the network that IP address belongs to, such as a company or an internet provider, with the organisation's name where it has one
- the approximate place for that IP address: country, region and city
- what your browser says about itself (browser, operating system, phone or laptop) and your preferred language
From your IP address and browser we work out a short code, so we can tell when the same visitor comes back. The site has no forms and never asks for your name or email address.
What we do not do
This site sets no cookies for visitors and runs no tracking or advertising scripts. Nothing goes to analytics or advertising companies, and nothing is sold. The only cookie the site ever sets is on the site owner's own browsers, so the owner's visits are left out of the counts.
How long we keep it
Your IP address and your browser's full description are deleted after 90 days. The rest of each visit record is deleted after 12 months.
Why we keep it
To understand who is interested in SquareBooks and which links bring them here. Our legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). Only SquareBooks can see the log.
Who handles it
The site runs on Cloudflare, which receives each request, looks up the network and approximate place for the IP address, and stores the log for us in the EU. Cloudflare acts as our processor.
Your rights
You can ask to see the visits we hold about you, have them deleted, or object to being logged. Email [email protected] with your IP address, or the date and rough time of your visit, so we can find the records. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
